Pet euthanasia and cremation pricing in Palatine, IL
Your credit card is required to reserve your appointment. However, no payment is required until the appointment and nothing is due until the appointment is completed
We charge cancellation fee of $100 if an appointment is cancelled less than 4 hours before the start time. If your pet passes away before your appointment you would not be charged a cancellation fee. If the vet you scheduled is able, and you would like their assistance with cremation, then pickup fee would apply instead of euthanasia fee
Other Consideration
If you have a larger pet, your vet may need the help of one friend or family member. Talk to your vet about options and limitations when they reach out to you prior to your appointment, and they will inform you of any extra cost for your situation.
Options for your pets return home and memorabilia depend on your local provider. Your vet coordinate the return of your pet’s ashes and let you know if there are additional fees for urn delivery.
Extra time or medications needed can affect the total price. Other factors can be if it is decided that it’s not time to euthanize your pet after the vet has arrive. In that case, only the travel fee, platform fee, and a quality of life consult would apply.
FAQs
The total cost includes the in-home pet euthanasia service fee, any travel fee (if any apply), and a platform fee. Additionally, depending on your choice, fees may apply for cremation services or keepsakes.
During your appointment, your vet will confirm your aftercare selection with you. If you choose to arrange cremation services, your vet will oversee your pet’s transportation to a local facility for cremation. If your preferred cremation option includes the return of your pet’s ashes to you, your vet will discuss the process to reunite you with your pet's ashes and the anticipated time frame during your appointment
Yes, upon arrival the veterinarian will assess your pet. This can look different than an “nose to tail” examination in a clinic setting and will focus more on the pet’s history and quality of life.
It is not uncommon to have doubts about whether the time is right. If you’ve taken the Quality of Life Questionnaire and are still unsure, we recommend consulting with your family veterinarian before scheduling an appointment.
Rest assured, if you book an appointment, your in-home euthanasia veterinarian will let you know if they do not believe that euthanasia is appropriate at this time.
You can expect your veterinarian to be in your home from 20-60 minutes, depending on how much of that time you need or want throughout the process.

Dr. Cassandra was very informative about the process. She gave us all the time we needed to say our “good-byes” to Sapphire. Dr. Cassandra was so patient with us, she was gentle and loving during Sapphire's final moments. We would recommend using Codapet to others.
First and foremost, I’m sorry for the late review. Losing my best bud has been extremely hard on my family and I. He was my shadow and my best friend and I just miss him so much 😞. Because my Oddy meant so much to me I wanted the very best experience for him . I was a bit reluctant at first because I had never heard of codapet. I chose to take a risk and I am so glad I chose Dr Lewis. From the very moment she stepped into our home, she was very compassionate, understanding, and respectful. We explained that Oddy’s tumor had burst open that morning and we were having a difficult time getting him to walk, and eat, which he loved to do. She walked us through every step and let us have the time we needed to say our goodbyes. Although that night was one of the worst days of my life, I was extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to hold my boy, in the comfort of our own home, as he took his last breath. Dr Lewis, also was kind enough to gift my whole family these small recycled medication vials with hearts attached to them filled with our Oddy’s fur. I turned it into a necklace and believe it or not it has helped me tremendously with the healing process after the loss of my fur baby. The only thing I was disappointed about is that my Oden’s name was spelled “Odin” on all of the documents and keepsakes we received. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you Dr Lewis. We are so grateful for the compassion and care shown by Dr Lewis during one of the hardest moments of our lives. Saying goodbye to our beloved dog was heartbreaking, but having it done in the comfort of our home made all the difference. From the moment she arrived, Dr Lewis was calm, gentle, and respectful—both with us and with our sweet pup. She explained each step with kindness and patience, giving us the time and space we needed to say our goodbyes. Our dog passed peacefully, surrounded by love, without fear or stress. It takes a special kind of person to do this work, and we will always be thankful for the care and compassion we received. Dr Lewis helped turn an incredibly difficult day into one filled with peace, dignity, and love. Kenny & Heidi Chewy 🐾
Dr. Perret was very kind as he helped my dear Abby-Jo cross the rainbow bridge. He took great care and compassion to explain the procedure and even though it was a sad day, it was made easier by his thoughtful and gentle professionalism. I couldn’t have asked for a better vet, and the fact that he came all the way to my home where Abby wouldn’t be scared or placed under any undue stress meant the absolute world to me. I highly recommend Dr. Perret.
In such an emotional trying moment, Dr. Cassandra was absolutely wonderful to our family and our beloved Tucker. We are so grateful for her calm compassion.
Dr. Lewis was very professional and very compassionate during this very difficult time for our family. She was very easy to speak with and we appreciate her kindness to us and most especially our beloved Mickey.
